I've always toyed with the idea of buying a Vectrex and saw some nice
footage on Youtube recently that has re-invigorated my interest. Other
than the cost, is there anything I need to worry about with getting
one of these machines off eBay? Did they suffer a lot of burned
picture tubes or anything? I hear they usually had a bad humming
problem but there are sites that detail how to fix that issue by
soldering a grounding wire. I hear the color overlays are definitely
something an owner should buy, are they hard to find? How are the
controllers? Did they break a lot? I know the old Atari 2600 joysticks
used to break a lot and so are a harder find. So what about the
Vectrex? Any word of warning from owners? |
