What I see is a 70 hunter with a lot of purple and blue weapons and gear.
What do you see? He looks very well geared and has a huge amount of
health.
Look closely. There is a reason the page opens up to the skills tab.
I see a hunter with no ranged weapon skill. In other words a fairly
worthless hunter. It's only one step above a melee priest in effectiveness.
Someone said its an RP server. If that's true I guess some nut might be
able to actually level a hunter to 70 without using a ranged attack (The 6
gun skill is do to a racial passive). Even then I doubt it can be done
legitimately.

Do you think?
No!
It can't be.

donīt laugh, I played my Hunter up to lvl30 and didnīt knew about the
existence of a animal-trainer.
I used Bows/Crossbows/guns but not excessive, I had to wait between two
shots in order to not building up aggro to fast. |

OK now I get it. Well I've heard of melee hunters and I guess he's one of
them. He does have nice weapons and gear so he must be able to play without
ranged weapons. It might be interesting to try. |

Most melee scores are high, in the 300's. Even his
unarmed is 290. Highest ranged skill is guns, at 6.
And he has an engineering made purple gun with him,
probably just for stats since he hasn't used a ranged
weapon more than 5 times, ever.

He has never used the gun. Dwarves start with gun skill 6. |

But you'd think he'd use a ranged weapon once in all
those levels, at the very least to do a pull. Even
a melee hunter might want to use a scorpid sting.
But the question is, "why?" If someone wants to do
melee, a warrior or rogue would be more effective.
The difference is that a melee hunter will use traps
and a pet, which will make up for the limited melee
options (survival tree adds one new melee ability
only). Will the pet (with some BM talents) and traps
add up to the same combat effectiveness as an
equivalently geared warrior? And what about the
annoyance of levelling up before you've got a lot
of survival points...

The why is it is interesting to do something different. I admire this guy
for doing it. I'd love to talk to him and get him to answer your questions. |

What's the big deal, BM/Surv hunter with average gear. don't see why
you posted this there has to be thousands of profiles like that
But But But----No bows, crossbows, or guns. A melee hunter? Don't I see
negative remarks about melee hunters All The Time?

What you think this is set in stone? Its a random snapshot in time - so
he had removed his weapon for some reason.
There is a very powerfull gun there now. |

It must be a purchased character. Ie, only 6 points
in guns, but he has a purple gun. Only 1 point in
bows or crossbows. A hunter that's melee is just
a bit odd. Ok, a lot odd. If someone wants to
play melee, a hunter is not the best choice.
Maybe they didn't know better when starting out,
but to get to level 70 doing melee as a hunter...
|
It is odd, but I don't see why some powerleveling service would want to
level the hunter up without using a gun. |

If he wanted to, he would have. It's an intentional experiment. Apparently,
he's an engineer, and uses a goblin rocket launcher to pull and for
misdirects.

But he's never fired it or used any ranged weapon of any kind.
You've probably read more of this thread by now, and see that he is, indeed,
a melee hunter and probably has the gun for stats. He doesn't use it.
